Manage Your Gmail Account, Remove spam or suspicious emails

Google Gmail is one is the most popular email client used on earth, just know that once you gave a google account automatically you have a google mail(Gmail account). Any android user who has a recent phone, can not enjoy your phone without having a google account, which in turn gives you access to Gmail.

Like any other email clients, like Hotmail, live, yahoo mail, mail.ru, and others, we all suffer spam issues and suspicious emails. Somehow, my spam box is getting more mail than in my inbox, am not here to discuss what caused it, but will give you a hint, mind the way you use your google API, to sign up to a website or app. most of there apps and website, use your email address and spam you a lot.

Am here to teach you how to manage your Gmail account to reduce spam and block suspicious emails. we will be discussing this in three categories, computer users, android or phone users, and iPad or iPhone users.

How To Block an email address

When you block a sender, their messages will go to your Spam folder.

  1. On your computer, go to Gmail.
  2. Open the message.
  3. In the top right, click More
  4. Click Block [sender].

Tip: If you blocked someone by mistake, you can unblock them using the same steps.

How To Unsubscribe from mass emails

If you signed up on a site that sends lots of emails, like promotions or newsletters, you can use the unsubscribe link to stop getting these emails.

  1. On your computer, go to Gmail.
  2. Open an email from the sender you want to unsubscribe from.
  3. Next to the sender’s name, click Unsubscribe or Change preferences. If you don’t see these options, follow the steps above to block the sender or mark the message as spam.

Tip: It may take a few days for the emails to stop after you unsubscribe.

Gmail tries to keep spam out of your inbox, but sometimes messages get through. If you see a spam message in your inbox:

  1. On your computer, go to Gmail.
  2. Check the box to the left of the message or open the message.
  3. Near the top of the page, click Report Spam

Tip: When you click Report spam or manually move an email into your Spam folder, Google will receive a copy of the email and may analyze it to help protect our users from spam and abuse.

A suspicious email asked for personal information

If you see a suspicious email that asks for personal information, you can report the email for phishing.

  1. On your computer, go to Gmail.
  2. Open the email you want.
  3. At the top right, click More
  4. Click Report phishing.

How To Block an email address

When you block a sender, messages they send you will go to your Spam folder.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app
  2. Open the message.
  3. In the top right of the message, tap More.
  4. Tap Block [sender].

How To stop seeing the Unsubscribe recommendations:

  1. In the top left, tap Menu Settings the name of the account you want to change.
  2. Under “inbox Tips,” tap Inbox Tips settings.
  3. Next to “Unsubscribe tips,” uncheck the box.
