Redmi Note 9 Getting Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 update

Redmi Note 9 Getting Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 update

In July, Redmi Note 9 alias Redmi 10X 4G was launched with Android 11 based MIUI 12.5. The update is now available one month later for all but one of the regional versions of the device. Consider the state of this smartphone’s recent system upgrade.

In February, the Redmi 10X 4G in China has access to Android 11. But only now does Redmi Note 9 receive the foreign edition of this handset last year with MIUI 12.5.

In the first weeks after the original Redmi 10X 4G debuted for China, the Indian version of the Redmi Note 9 received the MiUI 12.5 upgrade based on Android 11. Xiaomi updated more regional variations of the smartphone in the following weeks.

Currently, the MIUI 12.5 update Redmi Note 9 (Redmi 10X 4G) for the following regional phone versions is now available live.

  • China – V12.5.2.0.RJOCNXM
  • India – V12.5.1.0.RJOINXM
  • Global – V12.5.1.0.RJOMIXM
  • Turkey – V12.5.1.0.RJOTRXM
  • Indonesia – V12.5.1.0.RJOIDXM
  • Russia – V12.5.1.0.RJORUXM
  • EEA – V12.5.1.0.RJOEUXM

“Taiwan” is still the sole regional variation that has been updated. We believe the smartphone version will receive the upgrade in the next few days as well.

That said, the newest software update is routed in batches even for the above-mentioned versions. The update will take a while to reach each user in plain language.

Redmi Note 9 Specs

The Redmi Note 9 is an entry-level offering from Xiaomi in the Note 9 series. It shares the same design as the Redmi Note 9 Pro and the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. It sports a 6.53-inch display with a hole punch on the top left corner. There is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to protect the display. The display has good viewing angles but the notch could be distracting to a few people.

The Redmi Note 9 Is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 SoC. The Redmi Note 9 is available in three variants; 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage, 4GB of RAM with 128GB of storage, and 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. Storage can be expanded further using a microSD card slot. The Redmi Note 9 houses a 5,020mAh battery and gets a 22.5W charger in the box.

The Redmi Note 9 has a quad-camera setup consisting of a 48-megapixel primary camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The Redmi Note 9 manages good photos in daylight and the AI is quick to detect scenes. Lowlight camera performance was average and the Night mode did not make a huge difference in the output.
